Mask Making Workshop

Are you ready for Halloween? Come make a leather mask with Amanda Leetch of The Uncommon Façade on Saturday, October 23 from 2:30-4:30pm ! Design, cut, and mold leather into fantasy creature masks.

Phoenix mask by Amanda Leetch of The Uncommon FacadeAmanda can even help you make a mask to be worn with glasses, if you don’t want to take them off while you trick or treat!

This program is for kids in grades 5 & up, and registration is required. Materials are provided.

See Live Owls Tuesday, October 5

Kids in Grades 5 & up invited to program by “Wingmasters”
Barn OwlWingmasters and Guardians of Ga’Hoole. . .To celebrate the release of the movie Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole, based on Kathryn Lasky’s series of books The Guardians of Ga’Hoole, kids in grades 5 and up are invited to a presentation by Wingmasters on The World of Owls on Tuesday, October 5, 3-4 p.m. in the Lecture Hall. Wingmasters will have live, wild owls and present facts and information about different owls and how they live.


Digital Natives Young Adult Art Show

There’s still time to submit for the art show! Kids grades 5 and up can submit original works of art, digital art, or digitally edited pieces at the Youth Room desk before 5pm Friday, September 24th. All works will be considered, with priority given to digitally created or manipulated works. Pieces should be submitted with the name and phone number of the artist. Works that are not original but have been digitally edited should include a short artist’s statement about the process used.

The Digital Natives Young Adult Art Show will be taking place Saturday, September 25 from 3-4:30pm in the Beebe Library Lecture Hall. All artists are encouraged to attend. Refreshments and soft drinks will be served. Come enjoy an evening of art, conversation, and fun!

The art show will be open for gallery hours September 27-30, 2-5pm.


Local Author Gail Lowe Speaks Monday

Local author and Wakefield Daily Item reporter Gail Lowe will be at Beebe Library on Monday September 20 at 6:30 p.m. to read from her new book, Former Things. The event is free and the public is invited. Refreshments will be served and the author will have signed copies of her book available.


September is National Sewing Month

Beautiful Beebe Library on Main Street is a great space for community members to showcase and share their special interests. This week, visitors to the library will find a display presented in collaboration with local needle workers, who earlier this month offered an open house sewing workshop in the library lecture hall.

National Sewing Month originated in 1982 by proclamation of President Ronald Reagan “in recognition of the importance of home sewing to our Nation.”
Each September, The American Sewing Guild and The Sewing & Craft Alliance join forces to promote the craft and life-skill of sewing. Yearly themes emphasize the useful, do-it-yourself fun and eco-friendly nature of sewing. Continue »
