Join the fun as Sparky’s Puppets perform “Halloween Harvest” at Beebe Library, 345 Main St. Wakefield, MA on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. A friendly witch will ask the audience to furnish ingredients for her Halloween Brew. Chanting a magic rhyme together, they will stir up a lively stew of seasonal tales. Watch Brer Rabbit sneak into the garden to steal a prize-winning pumpkin. And meet a pesky goblin and other curious characters in this fast-paced, funny and interactive show.

News From the Youth Room
The Winter 1 session of Story Time that begins in November is currently filled. Patrons are encouraged to apply for the Winter 2 classes at this time. Winter 2 sessions run from January 11 through February 18. Register online, or view a complete schedule.
YA Advisory Board will meet on Wednesday, November 17 at 3 p.m. in the Program Room. This group suggests and plans library activities for kids in middle school as part of the Tweens and Teens grant from the Institute for Museum and Library Services, administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. New members are welcome. Stop in for soda and cookies.
Manga Swap will take place on Tuesday, November 16, 2:30-3:30 p.m. in the Lecture Hall. Bring your lightly used manga favorites to swap and trade with other kids. Soda and cookies provided.

Celebrate Harry Potter at the Museum of Natural History
Take advantage of the Library’s museum pass for reduced admission
Wakefield residents can take advantage of Beebe Library’s museum pass to gain reduced admission to the Harvard Museum of Natural History’s month-long celebration of Harry Potter.
For a whole month starting on October 30, 2010, the Harvard Museum of Natural History is celebrating the world of J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The HMNH invites muggles, witches, and wizards of all ages to embark on the Harry Potter Scavenger Hunt and uncover the science behind the magic. Pick up your own HMNH “Marauder’s Map,” journey through the museum galleries to explore hundreds of real specimens from wolves to wolfsbane and test the depth of your knowledge about Harry’s world.

Celebrate Halloween at Beebe Library Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010
Annual WHS Carved Pumpkin Display, Kiddie Concert at 6 p.m.
Join the “Fright Night” fun at Beebe Library on Thursday, October 28, 2010 beginning at 6 p.m.
Once again, art students from Wakefield High School will be displaying their elaborately carved pumpkins on the front steps of Beebe Library from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
At 6:45 p.m. the WHS Marching Band’s “Halloween Parade” will march from Wakefield Common down Main Street past the pumpkin display at the Library to the Americal Civic Center.
The library will also sponsor a Halloween concert for pre-school age kids in the Lecture hall at 6 p.m. Costumes are encouraged. The concert will last approximately 40 minutes so the kids will be out in time to see the parade and enjoy the carved pumpkins on the library steps. Continue »
