How to Raise a Reader

Marianne Stanton, Children’s Librarian at Melrose Public Library will present her popular program “How to Raise a Reader” on Wednesday, May 27 at 7:30 p.m. in the Lecture Hall. Learn how to choose books that appeal to your preschoolers, toddlers, and infants, and how you can help reinforce the literacy skills that help children learn to read.

Research shows that harnessing these skills before a child begins school makes children more likely to become good readers and consequently, good students.

“How to Raise a Reader” is part of Beebe Library’s “Mother Goose on the Loose” programming that supports early literacy. Federal funding is provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
