Bruins Shirt Winner!Wakefield High School 9th grader Sumbal Shahzadi (center) won a Boston Bruins team shirt signed by Bruins star Tyler Seguin in the 2011 state-wide Summer Reading Program sponsored by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. The Boston Bruins generously donated prizes to be awarded to selected summer reading participants state wide. Sumbal Shahzadi qualified to win the prize by participating in Beebe Library’s Summer Reading Program. Presenting her with the shirt are Beebe Library Young Adults Librarian Emily Wagner (left) and Children’s Librarian Nancy Sheehan.

Need help downloading free library ebooks to your new Nook, Kindle, Sony Reader, iPad or other device?
Beebe Library is offering small informal overview sessions on downloading library ebooks to various devices using the library’s Overdrive service. If you’d like to attend a session, please sign up at the Reference Desk or phone 781-246-6334, x2 to sign up and get more information.
Sessions are offered at the following times:

  • Mon 7:00 pm
  • Tue 5:30 pm
  • Thu 10:00 am or 2:00 pm

February 15: discussion of Chris Cleave’s Little Bee begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Lecture Hall
The “Books by the Lake” book discussion group combines the enjoyment of reading a single title and the desire to share insights, observations, and feelings about that one book with others who have read it. So many novels create a need in some readers to share their reactions about the book with others, as well as an opportunity to personally grow from the discussions of related themes and common experiences.

Peter Sheridan Singer Peter Sheridan shares songs, music, and stories with young children. Join Peter and friends for a fun-filled morning. Caution: Dancing may break out during this program. Saturday, February 18 at 10:30. Free.

Children’s Story Times Resume Jan. 10

Halloween Story TimeThe Winter 2 session of Story Time begins January 10. No pre-registration is necessary. Bring your child and a library card to the Youth Desk. Arrive a little early so you can provide your name and library card number on your admission sheet. The library admits a limited number of children to each story time.
