Beebe Library used to sponsor a volunteer literacy tutoring program in basic English and English as a second language. Regrettably, the library is no longer able to provide this service.
The nearest ESL and Literacy programs are at the Malden Public Library, and English at Large, located in Medford. Also in Malden is the Immigrant Learning Center, which offers four levels of ESL classes.
The Boston Public Library offers ESL classes, and also has a list of ESL and literacy resources in the Boston area.
The Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners (MLIN) maintains an online list of Massachusetts libraries offering literacy programs and links to other Massachusetts literacy resources.
The Massachusetts Department of Education’s System for Adult Basic Education Support (SABES) also has information on literacy resources, events, and links to other Internet sites.
