The Rental Collections were established by the Friends of Beebe Library to provide audiobooks, videocassettes and DVDs, and additional copies of popular bestselling books. The small rental fee for these items is dedicated entirely to replenishing the collections.
Rental items circulate at a cost of $1.00 for the circulation period. Renewals cost an additional dollar. The first dollar is paid when you first check out the item. We use the honor system for our rentals, so when returning rental items you’ve kept longer than one circulation period, please tell the staff so we can calculate the appropriate charge.
The multiple copies of bestsellers supplement the library’s “free” copy, purchased with funds other than the Friends’. You may choose to add your name to the reserve list for a free copy, or you may pay the fee for an available rental copy, on which no reserves are taken.
The audio and video collections include both fiction and non-fiction titles. Fiction audiobooks and feature films are purchased by the Friends and subject to the $1 rental charge. There is no fee for any nonfiction audiobook or video title.
