Massachusetts Mysteries

This is all about the place—well, actually—a murder or a crime that occurs in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The private investigators or amateurs all reside in our state or have their home base or office here. In a few cases, it is just about the crime solver being from Massachusetts and returning here. In some of the series listed, the action takes place elsewhere but the good ole’ cod, Boston Baked Bean and Massachusetts locations are discussed or yearned for. So on this list, you’ll run into some cozies like Irene Allen or Janet Langton; some hard-boiled P.I.s like Robert B. Parker’s Spenser series or Dennis Lehane’s dynamic duo Patrick and Angie; and some stand-alones just too good to pass on. There are Historicals by Dianne Day, Cynthia Peale and Matthew Pearl, and crimes by the sea by Philip R. Craig and Paul Kemprecos. The loveliness of Cape Cod, especially Martha’s Vineyard, has prominent acreage on these mysterious pages so if you can’t visit physically this summer, please do so by reading about these sandy, salt-drenched places while you solve a few crimes.
