Supper SleuthsMysteries, suspense novels, thrillers, and crime novels involving plays, playwriting, theatrical drama, and other elements relating to the theatre are found in this category. Acting, actors, and actresses, are also focal points, but only if it pertains to stage acting. We shall leave the mediums of film, opera, dance, and other forms of entertainment for another time.It should also be noted that Shakespeare as a character and as a playwright appears numerous times in this list, and could easily be a sub-genre on his own. If the bard attracts you, try Simon Hawke’s Smythe series, Philip Gooden’s Revell series, Faye Kellerman’s The Quality of Mercy or Kate Wilhelm’s Hamlet Trap.
