Here’s a little taste of what you can expect.
Are you a Downton Abbey fan? Jeff’s picks will keep you going until the next season airs with tales, both fiction and non-fiction, from above and below stairs.
If you’re looking for good reading that won’t keep you out of the water too long, you can try Karen’s suggestions for short stories and essays. From humorous non-fiction to stories that touch on everything from politics to love, this is a selection you can dip into whenever you need a quiet moment.
Or maybe you like to read big books over the summer when you have a little more time to really dive in? If that’s you, Jackie has a selection of complex and compelling novels that will keep you thinking long after summer’s heat has faded.
Maureen will be talking about the concept of families discussing books together, and Emily will present us with a variety of books, fiction, non-fiction, and poetry, all on a theme that’s close to our hearts here at the Beebe – honey!
And finally, for historical fiction fans, Stephanie has a list of books with strong female protagonists making their way in a world where men hold all the cards.
In addition you’ll have Leane Ellis’ pick list for what’s new and hot this summer. Leane was a judge for the Massachusetts Book Awards (MBAs) this year, and her list will include the inside scoop on the 12 “notable books” for 2011.
And if there’s a source you can trust, it’s Leane who, we are proud to repeat from the rooftops, will be inducted into the Massachusetts Library Association’s Hall of Fame for her contributions to the advancement of readers’ advisory services in libraries!
There are two dates for this “Book Buzz Beach Reads – Saturday, June 16th at 10:30 a.m. and Tuesday, June 19th at 6:30 p.m. Sign up at the Reference Desk to reserve your spot, by email at email@wakefieldlibrary.org, or by phone at 781-246-6334 ext. 2.
