Wakefield Then & Now Photo Contest

Princess TheatreIn connection with the third annual “Blossoms at the Beebe” celebration on April 10, Beebe Library is sponsoring a photo contest. The theme of the contest is “Wakefield Then and Now,” showcasing how important sites in Wakefield have changed over the years. Entrants will be asked to select a historic photo of Wakefield and then take a new present day photo of the same location.
Here’s how to enter:

  • Choose a “Then” photo from the Wakefield Then & Now set of photos from Wakefield’s past.
  • Go out and take a new photo of that same place as it looks today.
  • Write a few words (100 or less) about why you chose the picture and what it means to you.
  • Send your photo and essay to email@wakefieldlibrary.org with your name, phone number email address and age category (kid 0-12; teen 13-18; adult 19 and older). Remember to tell us which “Then” photo you tried to duplicate (include either the photo’s title or URL.) You may also bring your photo and essay to the Reference Desk at the Library. Write your name address and age category on the back of the photo.

Deadline for entries is Friday, April 2, 2010.

Every entry will be added to the library’s digital collection. Entries will be added to the library’s “Wakefield Then & Now” Collection and will be displayed at the “Blossoms at the Beebe” celebration on April 10 & 11 at Beebe Library. Winning entries will also receive a copy of the book, “Images of America: Wakefield” by local author Nancy Bertrand.
