The library is excited to announce that we have added a special concert with a homegrown flavor to the Plaza Jazz series. Next Thursday, July 12, the Wakefield High School Alumni Jazz Ensemble will perform from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the plaza in front of the library (weather permitting. If it rains the event will be inside). The WHS Jazz ensemble, under the direction of Thomas Bankert, has had a very successful five years. The group has received several gold medals at the district and state level, received the highest award at the UNH Jazz Festival and has won the Berklee High School Jazz Festival on two different occasions. The concert on Thursday, July 12 will feature both current students and alumni of the band. So swing by anytime between 5:30 and 7:30 to hear some great music from some of Wakefield’s best young musicians.
