Magazine & Newspaper Resources

Beebe Library carries over 170 magazines and newspapers in print form, and has hundreds more available through our online indexes of periodicals. Here is a quick list of online resources to search our periodicals collections:

Beebe Magazine List – An alphabetical list of the magazines and newspapers we currently carry in hard copy (paper).

Our online full text indexes can be searched at the library or from home. Visit our online databases page for a complete list of our Internet-accessible research tools. Our main periodicals indexes are EBSCO and Gale Infotrac. Both cover a wide range of popular and academic journals as well as newspapers. For most titles, the full text of the articles is available to view online, save, email, or print.

The library also has access to a number of full text newspapers online via the Massachusetts Newsstand, which includes the Boston Globe back to 1980, and 14 other local and regional papers from around the state.

Gale Infotrac also includes the full text of the New York Times back to 1995, and the Times also provides an archive of some free online articles from 1851 to the present, but 1923-1986 cost money.

Time Magazine is available through the EBSCO and Gale Infotrac indexes, but the magazine also makes available an archive of free online articles back to 1923. The archive includes the text of articles, but not images.

For consumer information, the library subscribes to both the print and online versions of Boston Consumers’ Checkbook as well as Consumer Reports magazine.. To access these subscriptions online, please ask for help at the Reference Desk in the library.

Beebe Library is grateful to many local patrons who supplement our budget with donations of magazine subscriptions for the community to share. For more information on this program, check out our “Donate a magazine subscription” page, or view our wish list of magazines available to donate.
