Free tickets required for this show
The next Peter Sheridan Sing-Along will be held on Saturday, March 24 at 10:30 a.m. in the Lecture Hall at Beebe Library. Due to large crowds of adoring fans, the library will issue tickets to prevent overcrowding. Wakefield residents will be able to pick up tickets one week ahead of time at the Youth Room Desk. Non-residents may get tickets the day of the concert. Tickets are free. The Sing-Along is for children ages 5 and under. Phone 781-246-6334, x3 for further information.

Cornerstone was laid for Beebe Memorial Library on March 17, 1922

The Wakefield Daily Item noted that “the ringing of church bells served as a reminder of the important ceremonies and the crowd quickly gathered and soon swarmed over the steel girders, granite, brick and other material being used by the contractors.” Continue »
Bruins Shirt Winner!
Wakefield High School 9th grader Sumbal Shahzadi
Wakefield High School 9th grader Sumbal Shahzadi (center) won a Boston Bruins team shirt signed by Bruins star Tyler Seguin in the 2011 state-wide Summer Reading Program sponsored by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. The Boston Bruins generously donated prizes to be awarded to selected summer reading participants state wide. Sumbal Shahzadi qualified to win the prize by participating in Beebe Library’s Summer Reading Program. Learn the Art of ‘Extreme Couponing’
Jamie Chase, author of “The Lazy Couponer, speaks March 7
On Wednesday, March 7, Beebe Library will present Jamie Chase, author of The Lazy Couponer, at 6:30 p.m. in the Lecture Hall. The author will demonstrate extreme couponing without going to extremes.
Chase is a family economics expert with a degree business management and a background in retail management. During this program she will reveal her thrifty secrets and show how to save money and time. Continue »

Beebe Library is offering small informal overview sessions on downloading library ebooks to various devices using the library’s Overdrive service. If you’d like to attend a session, please sign up at the Reference Desk or phone 781-246-6334, x2 to sign up and get more information.
Sessions are offered at the following times:

Children’s Concert with Peter Sheridan Feb. 18
Singer Peter Sheridan shares songs, music, and stories with young children. Join Peter and friends for a fun-filled morning. Caution: Dancing may break out during this program. Saturday, February 18 at 10:30. Free.

Magazine Giveaway – Saturday, January 14
On Saturday, January 14, 2012, Beebe Library will offer its annual Magazine Giveaway. Please stop by the library anytime between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to browse through a wide selection of magazines that are two years old. Take some home for reading during the upcoming winter weather, discover some ideas for home projects, or try some new recipes.
