Early Literacy & Preschool Services

New brochure for parents now available
"Mother Goose on the Loose" Story TimeA baby’s brain is wired to establish language in the first two years of life. Early literacy skills are the foundation for comprehension, speech, reading and later learning. Beebe Library provides programs, materials and services that promote early literacy.

Now, thanks to federal funding provided by the Institute for Museum and Library Services and administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, Beebe Library has produced a colorful brochure for parents outlining the library’s services for preschoolers.

Library Halloween Photos

Halloween Tie-DyeCarved PumpkinsCheck out the recent Halloween happenings at the library by visiting our Flickr photo page. A Halloween Tie-Dye program brought kids of all ages who created colorful T-shirts for Halloween. The evening of October 30, 2008 brought the 9th Annual Carved Jack-o’-lantern display on the front stairs and plaza of Beebe Library in Wakefield, Massachusetts. The display represents the work of Wakefield High School art students and Art Club members. The event draws bigger crowds each year.


Book Discussion Groups to Meet

Supper Sleuths, a discussion group for mystery readers, will meet on Tuesday, October 14, at 6 p.m. to discuss Louis Bayard’s The Pale Blue Eye.

Books by the Lake will meet on Wednesday, October 15 to discuss Roland Merullo’s Revere Beach Elegy: a Memoir of Home and Beyond.
