David Dellinger(1915-2004) was one of the 20th century's best-known radical pacifists. He was a member of the Chicago Seven group of protesters who disrupted the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
He was born in Wakefield, and grew up on Shumway Circle, graduating from Wakefield Memorial High School in 1932. He continued his studies at Yale and Oxford Universities, and later the Union Theological Seminary in New York. He was opposed to the military draft, and protested against the Korean and Vietnam wars. After the Vietnam period, Dellinger moved to Vermont. He died on May 25, 2004.
