Citizens' Scholarship Foundation

The Citizen's Scholarship Foundation, sometimes known as the Citizens' Scholarship Fund, started in 1960 and awarded $1,550 in scholarships to eight local students. Its stated purpose is "to provide financial assistance to residents of Wakefield in their pursuit of higher education without regard to the race, color, creed, sex, or age of said residents". Since 1960 the Foundation has awarded almost seven million dollars to over 6,800 students.

The Foundation's offices are located in the Americal Civic Center at 467 Main Street.
