Northeast Metrotech Vocational and Technical School
Northeast Metrotech Vocational and Technical High School is a 4-year public vocational high school serving the communities of Chelsea, Malden, Melrose, North Reading, Reading, Revere, Saugus, Stoneham, Wakefield, Winchester, Winthrop, and Woburn, which together comprise the Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational School District.
The district was formed in 1964 by the twelve communities in order to jointly create a shared vocational school which would accept a diverse student body and provide "a rigorous academic and career/technical education in an open, diverse and supportive environment."
In the 2007-2008 school year there were 1,244 students, 61 of whom were from Wakefield.
The total budget for Fiscal Year 2007 was $17,090,302. Wakefield's contribution was $708,723.
The school is located near the Saugus town line on Hemlock Road (off Farm Street) not far from Wakefield Memorial High School.
