Supper SleuthsFor the most part, Senior Sleuths are over 65 and retired. Some started out as middle-aged or younger characters and like all of us, aged naturally.
Almost all of the older citizens who either directly solve crimes or provide the information needed by the police to do their jobs are women. Older men in mysteries generally are still working as private detectives or law enforcement officers facing retirement with more angst than anger, not as elderly citizens who just happen to become involved in a crime. Many popular characters of this genre have been left off the list like Lilian Jackson Braun’s Jim Qwilleran and M.C. Beaton’s Agatha Raisin because they have been thoroughly read in other genres. If you have never read them, please feel free to do so.
The following is a list of titles by author. Whenever possible, the series is in order of publication date. This is by no means an exhaustive list, and please let us know if you feel that a title should be here. Please read one or more titles from an author, and come prepared to discuss your impressions of them with the group.
