Montrose Branch Opens

A second branch library was opened in the Montrose school on the northeast side of town.

Photo shows view of the Montrose Chapel located at 292-294 Salem Street on the south side of the street at the corner of Drummer Lane. The Stick Style chapel was built in 1885-86 and dedicated on April 28, 1886. From 1946 to 1981, the building was used as the Montrose Branch of the Lucius Beebe Memorial Library. After it closed, the building was converted to private residences.
