Looking for some reading inspiration? Try the 2025 Mass Center for the Book Reading Challenge. For each month of the year, a new challenge is presented to prompt reading in new ways.
- Choose a book that fits the monthly challenge. For each challenge, Mass Center for the Book prepares a list of book suggestions related to the prompt, which is linked on the Reading Challenge page under “Book Recommendations.” There is also a linked list on the main page of the library catalog each month, making books easily requestable. If you’re stuck or want more recommendations, please email us at email@wakefieldlibrary.org or call us at 781-246-6334 for help. You can also request a book by filling out this online form!
- After you read, fill out this short online form on the Mass Center for the Book website to submit your monthly challenge entry. At the end of each month, two names are drawn to win a free book! Make sure you get your entry in before the end of the month.
- Mass Center for the Book will host a year-end party to celebrate participants committed to the challenge. Additionally, if you read a book in each of the 12 months, you will be entered in a drawing to win one of two totes filled with books!
If you’re visiting the library, we have a display on the Avon Street staircase featuring book recommendations for the monthly challenge. Ask the Reference Desk for help with finding alternatives!

Mass Center for the Book is also hosting a 25th Anniversary Bingo! Explore Massachusetts’ best literary landmarks, events, bookstores, libraries, and more–with prompts like, “Visit a famous MA author’s grave” and “Go to a MA book festival.” There is a list of bingo tips and tricks included on their website to help you in your journeys.
