FAQs
Can you fix my broken device?
Unfortunately, we can not make repairs on devices, but we'd be happy to take a look at the device and point you in the right direction for more assistance.
Do I need to bring my device to Drop-In?
If you're able to, that would be great. For some devices such as printers and desktop computers, transporting them may be difficult. In those cases, we would still be happy to work with you to find resources that you can try at home.
Can you help with software and apps?
Yes! We aren't experts on every application or piece of software but we'd love to help you get started.
I think my device has a virus. Can you remove it?
Removing viruses and malware from devices is very difficult and usually requires professional service. We would be happy to take a look at the device and see if there may be something else slowing it down. We can not remove malware.
I forgot my password or username. Can you help me?
Depending on the device manufacturer or service provider, it may be impossible to locate a missing password. We may be able to help you reset your password or get in touch with the manufacturer to reclaim your account.
Do I get assistance for the full 2 hours?
One-on-one assistance is provided during Drop-In. The length of time that we can spend with each person depends on the volume of attendees that show up. You can expect at least 15 minutes, on a busy day, depending on your question.
I'd like to join just to work on my own. Is that okay?
Absolutely! Many folks enjoy Drop-In because we provide the space to work on their devices on their own. If a problem arises, someone will be able to assist.
I've never used a ___ (smartphone, tablet, laptop, etc). Can you teach me the basics?
We'd be happy to get you started. We have laptops and iPads on-hand for you to try out. Some attendees join Drop-Ins regularly to slowly build up their skills on new devices.
