For many years, Wakefield has celebrated Spring with the Blossoms at the Beebe fundraiser.
This year, a confluence of factors has made producing Blossoms more difficult, so the library, Chamber of Commerce, and Blossoms Committee made the tough decision to no longer host the gala.
This presents both a challenge and an opportunity. The funds raised have been substantial and directly impact the library building and library and Chamber services. We know how much people enjoy socializing after-hours in the Main Street building. Maybe a new tradition will bloom.
It is impossible to thank each of the hundreds of Blossoms volunteers and contributors. But special thanks are due to event founders Larry Andrews (formerly of The Savings Bank), former Library Director Sharon Gilley, and long-time Chamber Director Chris Barrett.
Finally, our eternal gratitude to Blossoms Chair, Susan Wetmore. Blossoms’ longevity and success is entirely due to her planning, diligence, and cat-herding. We look forward to what comes next.
