The Friends of Beebe Library generously provides funding for the museum pass program. These passes offer Wakefield residents free or reduced admission to some of the Boston area’s most popular institutions.

In order to fairly allocate the passes, the following procedures apply:

  • The library accepts reservations for museum passes from registered Wakefield residents up to sixty days in advance. Registered non-residents may borrow museum passes on a same-day walk-in basis.
  • A patron is allowed to reserve a pass for only one museum per day.
  • A patron is allowed one reservation during a school vacation week.
  • A reservation will be denied if a patron has failed to pick up, or has cancelled a reservation within 24 hours of the pass date-of-use, three times in the previous 180 days.

Reserved passes are available for pick up at the library the day before the reservation. Weekend passes are available the preceding Friday. Passes for Monday holidays are available the preceding Saturday.

Some museums accept printable passes. Please note that printed confirmation emails are not valid.

Because passes may be reserved by others, it is important that they be returned promptly. Unless a pass is a disposable coupon, it is due back by 9:15am. the day following the visit. Weekend passes are due back by 9:15am. Monday. Patrons are encouraged to use the book drops when the library is closed.

There is a $5.00 late fee for passes returned after 9:15 a.m., and a $5 per day overdue fine thereafter.

The library and community cooperate to make the museum pass program work. Very occasionally, a problem arises in the administration of the program. Beebe Library is unable to compensate patrons for any inconvenience or expense resulting from problems such as scheduling conflicts, the late return of passes, or changes in museum hours and information. The library advises patrons to verify museum hours before making plans.
