It’s Growing Season

Gardening season has arrived! If you are looking for seeds, stop by the Wakefield Seed Library–located on the 2nd floor, in the adult nonfiction section. The seed library functions as a seed swap, so if you have seeds you’d like to share with the community, please feel free to add them to the seed library.

When donating seeds, please fill out as much information as you can on the seed envelope– including your name (optional), the seed type, the variety, the date collected (if possible), and any other notes you think may be useful (e.g. tips on growing, when/where/how to plant, etc.). Prepackaged seeds may also be donated and can be left in their original packaging. While visiting the Seed Library upstairs in nonfiction, explore the books with the Dewey number 635 to learn more about gardening!

On May 3rd (10:00am – 1:30pm), we will bring the Seed Library to the Green May Day event at Galvin Middle School (525 Main Street), hosted by the Wakefield Sustainability Committee and Warrior Clean Up Crew. Help with the Spring Litter Pick-Up and explore the Sustainability Showcase featuring organizations involved in keeping Wakefield green.

On May 6th (6:30pm – 7:30pm), the library is hosting a Plant Swap! During this event, participants may exchange plants, cuttings, seeds, and gardening knowledge. Register here!
