Social Media fatigue? We can help.

Social Media fatigue? We can help.

What is social media fatigue? The National Institutes of Health says social media fatigue is defined by “high levels of information overload experienced due to extensive usage of social media.” It can also refer to “social media users’ tendency to withdraw from social media because of feeling overwhelmed, and is closely related to individuals’ social life and well-being.”

If this is striking a chord with you, and you’d like to reduce screen time, consider Summer at the Library:  Connect IRL with other music lovers at Plaza Jazz every week or sign the kids up for one of more than 60 programs for children and teens on offer through August. Librarians are ready with suggestions for your next beach read, our Digital Media Lab is open for business (summer scanning project, anyone?), and the building is open 65 hours a week if you just need a place to cool off or find a quiet reading spot.

While we won’t be posting to Facebook or Instagram, have no FOMO; our website will be updated frequently with program schedules, Jazz performers, clues to find Buzzy around town, and more posts like this one.

Other ways to stay in touch:

 · Subscribe to Beebe’s email newsletters:  General and Youth

·  Find Buzzy on YouTube

·  Register for programs and events on the library calendar

·  Contact a librarian at email@wakefieldlibrary.org or phone 781-246-6334

You can also see what’s happening around town, including at the library, on the Community Calendar, and watch for library news in the Wakefield Daily Item and Patch.
