Tour the Library’s Art Collection

Beebe Library has been fortunate over the years to have been gifted a number of original artworks. Maybe you’ve noticed them as you’ve used the scanner or walked down the hall by the Trustees Room. Or maybe you’ve always just been blinded by the many amazing books on display and not paid much attention to the art. In either case, if you’re eager to find out more, we have a new solution!

Through a generous grant from the Wakefield Arts Council, a division of the Massachusetts Cultural Council, the library was able to take stock of our art collection, have it photographed (many thanks to local photographer Eric Bielakiewicz for his contributions), create, and professionally print a stunning, museum-quality catalog of our holdings.

Many of the works the library houses are a valuable source of local history, portraying Wakefield buildings no longer in existence or versions of Main Street from over a century ago. Others are central to library history, depicting key Beebe family members throughout the years.

Whether you’re a regular visitor or you’ve never set foot in the library, we invite you to pick up a copy of the brochure and take a self-guided tour through the building to learn more about those who made it possible, all while appreciating the intricacy of Beebe’s architecture and the warmth of its décor.
